Four teams are reportedly interested in signing Dwight Howard as the eight-time NBA All-Star center is expected to opt out of his contract with the Houston Rockets this summer.

The 30-year-old Howard has just finished the third year of his four-year, $87.6 million deal with the Rockets that includes a player option at the end of this season.

Speculations abound that the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year will opt out of his contract in the offseason as his on-court chemistry with current Houston main man James Harden is said to be "cordially bad", according to Bleacher Report.

The report continued that the two superstars "tried to build a friendly relationship, but on the court, things haven't worked out".

Aside from internal team problems, Howard opting out this July actually makes sense from a financial perspective as he is expected to earn more next season by becoming a free agent because of the NBA's impending increase in salary cap this summer.

If he opts in, he will receive $23.2 million from the Rockets next season, which could be significantly less than what he can earn with another team thru free-agency.

Meanwhile, CBS Sports' Ananth Pandian reported that there are at least four teams "in the running to sign Dwight Howard", namely the Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks, Portland Trail Blazers, and Charlotte Hornets.

It was the second time this year that Howard is being rumored to a return to his original NBA squad and it was also said that a reunion would make sense for both sides. Orlando is in need of a full-pledged superstar with its young core while Howard "can return to a place where he is comfortable and was successful", which would be win-win for himself, the team, and the fans as well.

Milwaukee reportedly tried to trade for Howard during last February's deadline but the deal fell through at the last minute. The two side will allegedly re-open the negotiations this July.
