Song Zuying reportedly performed several anthems at Spratly Islands including 'Ode to the South Sea Defenders,' a song that celebrates Chinese soldier's courageous spirit for defending the South China Sea territory from enemy nations.

The photos also offered a rare glimpse into the construction activities of Chinese government in the Spratly Islands, showing lighthouses, harbors and buildings.

In the background of one of the photos, the Chinese navy's massive Type 071 amphibious dock ships can also be seen. The dock ship can carry four helicopters and nearly 800 troops.

The Chinese government has not commented on Song Zuying's performance. There has also been no word from Song Zuying.

In recent months, China has sent several fighter jets and several high ranking military officials to the Spratly Islands. However, this is the first time that a celebrity has visited the disputed maritime territory to peform.

China has increased construction activities in the South China Sea since last year, drawing severe criticisms from other claimants and the international community.
