Amid speculations that the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016 model would boast of Skylake chips, latest rumors claimed that the new laptop from Apple would run on Xeon E3 chip as well.

According to Neurogadget, there would be different variants of the highly-anticipated portable computer for each of the two processors from Intel.

Just like the 2015 model of the Retina MacBook Pro, the 13-inch variant has a new Broadwell chip, while the 15-inch variant is still using the Haswell chips.

Therefore, the report noted that it might be applicable to the new model of MacBook Pro believed to be released by June 13 this 2016.

When it comes to its GPU, it was theorized that a certain variant would use one from AMD, particularly the one based on the 14 nm FinFET process, while the other would use something from NVIDIA that is based on 16 nm FinFET Plus process.

As with the expected design of MacBook Pro 2016, rumors suggested that it would still bear the look of the 12-inch MacBook, except that the upcoming model would be thinner and would come with a Butterfly key mechanism, replacing the Scissor mechanism.

As such, it was stated that the Butterfly key mechanism, which was already used in the MacBook 2015 keyboard,  "wider than the scissor mechanism and has a single assembly made from a stiffer material - allowing for a more stable, responsive key that takes up less vertical space. This innovative design improves stability, uniformity and control - no matter where you press on the key."
