Over the next few months, the Chinese national men's basketball team will be looking to develop the same sort of chemistry that helped them regain basketball supremacy in Asia last year, as they prepare to set off for Brazil and the 2016 Olympics.

Three players from last year's roster of Team China have linked up with the team this week to prepare for the upcoming Rio de Janeiro Games this August.

The 2015 FIBA Asia Championships All-Star Five selection member Guo Ailun joined the national team on Monday along with 22-year-old 2.14 meters tall center Wang Zhelin.

Listed 1.93 meters tall, guard Guo has been hailed for his vibrant performances that helped China knock-off Iran in the semifinal round and the 2013 FIBA Asia Championships finalist Philippines in the title game.

Zhelin, who is playing for the Chinese Basketball Association club Fujian Sturgeons, is averaging 21.6 points, 11.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game for the Fujian in the recently concluded 2015-16 CBA season.

Former NBA player and the four-time CBA's Domestic MVP Yi Jianlian arrived at the training camp of the national squad on Tuesday. The 31-year-old Heshan, Guangdong native had his finest tournament last year, being named the FIBA Asia Championship Most Valuable Player for the second time (he first won the honor in 2011 in Wuhan, China).

Yi will be representing China in the Olympics for the fourth time.

China has appeared in nine Olympic Games, but, the national squad has not yet won any medal in the prestigious sporting events. The Asian giant is considered to be a major basketball powerhouse in the continent, winning 16 gold medals in the bi-annual basketball tournament.
