Reports are out that former Phoenix Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek is now included as one of the candidates for the New York Knicks' head coaching job after team president Phil Jackson met with him recently.

The 53-year-old former Utah Jazz shooting guard had a dialogue with Jackson as the Knicks continue on their hunt for a new chief bench tactician next season, increasing the Big Apple squad's options to four, including interim head coach Kurt Rambis, former Cleveland Cavaliers boss David Blatt, and former Indiana Pacers mentor Frank Vogel, ESPN reported.

Of the four, Rambis remains to be the top choice of Jackson, according to rumors, as the former Lakers assistant is not only a good friend of the Zen Master and one of his triangle offense students but he is also directly involved in a lot of New York's offseason dealings.

If ever Jackson chooses otherwise, it is anticipated that Rambis will still be with him in New York most probably as the lead assistant to the new head coach.

Fansided indicated that Blatt's chances of landing the job "has fluctuated" in recent days because he is said to be not part of the application process at all, meaning only his representatives are talking with the Knicks although Jackson managed to interview him as well.

As for Vogel, the 42-year-old coach is said to be targeted by the Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic as well, although he has not decided yet which of the three teams, including New York, will he focus on making a deal.

The report also noted that Hornacek is "linked or interviewed for almost every head coaching vacancy there was this offseason" and so this talk with the Knicks is just one of the many choices he has so far this summer.

Aside from head coaching gigs, Hornacek is also allegedly wanted by the Golden State Warriors to replace outgoing lead assistant coach Luke Walton, who received the offer to coach the Lakers next season.

There are also rumors that the search will still go on as team leader Carmelo Anthony had publicly requested.
