A wild trade rumor involving the Boston Celtics swapping their starting point guard Isaiah Thomas and 2016 third overall pick for the Cleveland Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving this summer has been circulating the web at the moment.

One of Bleacher Report's NBA analysts, Ric Bucher, said to have started the rumor after he suggested in a video posted at their website that the Celtics should explore the possibility of snagging Irving from Cleveland using their no. 3 selection in the coming NBA Draft this June.

The video was hosted by Stephen Nelson while Bucher and fellow analyst Howard Beck talked about the potential trades the Los Angeles Lakers and Celtics, holders of the coming draft's second and third overall selections, can go into at this point in time.

Beck said that he expects Boston to "chase (the Clippers') Blake Griffin or (Cavs') Kevin Love, guys that they had in their sights before", but the third overall pick in what is essentially believed by many as only a "two-man" draft is not valuable enough for the Celtics to pull off such deals.

Many NBA pundits believe that after LSU's Ben Simmons and Duke's Brandon Ingram is drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers and Lakers, the talent pool remaining declines significantly.

Meanwhile, Bucher recommends the Celtics to try and bid for Irving in the summer as he thinks that the Cavs' Big Three of Love, Irving, and LeBron James are bound to split if they do not win the championship this season.

Bucher said that Irving is the "ultimate answer to what they (Celtics) need" as the team craves for a "go-to-guy, one that no matter who you put on him is going to be able to get his shot".

He admitted, however, that the third overall pick is not enough, hence starting point guard Thomas should be included in the package to make Cleveland agree.

Irving to the Celtics is actually an old rumor as it had been suggested way back in March of this year by CSNNE's Bob Ryan. Speculations were out at that time about Irving's unhappiness with his role with the Cavs, but it since died down as the team picked up its performances in time for their postseason run.
