China came into the final stage of the competition with an unbeaten record after sweeping all of their previous opponents in the early stages of the prestigious world team championships event.

The host team lived up to the expectations of many observers in defending the crown. According to Xinhua, the championship showdown between China and the South Korea was the third occasion in the last four years in the Uber Cup final.

Top Chinese badminton ace and current world No.3 Li Xuerui won the opening singles match with a 14-21, 21-13, 21-10 score over the world No. 7 Sung Ji-hyun to give China the early lead 1-0. Li has maintained her perfect, unblemished record in the Uber Cup.

However, in the second match, South Korea was able to bounce back and evened the score after men's doubles Jung Kyung Eun and Shin Seung Chan outlasted the pair of Olympic Champions Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei 16-21, 21-17, 25-23 in a match that lasted for 94 minutes.

"We didn't play well enough in this match, especially in defense. We give them too many chances to score in the second and third game." Zhao said.

Current world No.6 Wang Shixian put the defending champions back on top when she swept Kim Hyo-min 21-13, 21-12.

The pair Chen Qingchen and Tang Yuanting cemented the win by defeating the Korean duo Chang Ye Na and Lee So Hee 21-14, 21-16.

China's head coach Li Yongbo praised the Chinese tandem.

"They just play together since the second match of the group stage, and they had a perfect performance today. I believe they will be the Olympic champion in the future," Li said.

With the victory, China has succeeded in winning its third-straight Badminton Women's World Team Championships title.
