Recent reports are out that rumored top Los Angeles Lakers offseason target DeMar DeRozan is adamant about staying with the Toronto Raptors next season, which squashed any possibility of a "homecoming" for the Compton, California native.

The 26-year-old shooting guard told reporters soon after the Raptors' Game 6 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals that he wants to stay in Toronto for the foreseeable future as he "passionate" to "stick through" with the squad thru ups and downs.

"I don't think so," DeRozan said with regards to the possibility of finding a better situation with another NBA club, as per CBS Sports.

"My mindset has always been Toronto. I always preached it. I was passionate about it when we was losing. When we was terrible, I said I'm going to stick through this whole thing and I want to be that guy who brings this organization to where it is now. I definitely don't want to switch up after we win," he added.

The two-time All-Star also insisted that he has not changed about taking pride in suiting up for the Raptors throughout his seven-year career. It should be noted that DeRozan has not played for any team but Toronto since the franchise drafted him ninth overall in 2009.

He also mentioned that many of his critics have asked him why he wanted to remain in a small market team like Toronto, but he said that it gave him "the motivation to want to prove people wrong or prove critics wrong".

Meanwhile, SB Nation noted that the Lakers are actually "not that high" about signing DeRozan as the management feels that Jordan Clarkson, who is also an incoming free agent, could get them what they want from the Raptors shooting guard for a fraction of the price.

The report mentioned that DeRozan will not solve any of the Lakers' existing primary needs, particularly a starting center that is a superior rim protector. The Hollywood team already has a lot potential at the backcourt and the wings and adding the former USC standout would just be redundant to what they are trying to achieve.
