Deeptext is a new artificial intelligence system that will be used to identify vernacular language in Facebook posts, comments, and Messenger.

The system is capable of understanding what the content of a message is, and will provide options for convenience especially if a user is trying to sell something online, ask for a ride, or search over the web. Once the AI understand the context, it could ask you if the user is going to ask for a ride using transportation integration applications like Uber, or will request for more information regarding the product the user is trying to sell, or help searching products online, according to Techcrunch.

Facebook explained that the AI will only scan the context of the message and will respect privacy of users. The social network also took note verbal harassments and hate speeches. If Deeptext AI identifies such content, the system will report it immediately. Tests are being conducted on the platform for both the networking application and Messenger.

Hussein Mehanna, engineering director at Facebook, said that they "want Deep Text to be used in categorizing content within Facebook to facilitate searching for it and also surfacing the right content to users," according to Quartz.

Deeptext integration will not only improve the social networking platform, but it can also turn Facebook into a powerful search engine. Millions of data are shared on Facebook and other social media platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp. The task of sorting out information is overwhelming, but artificial intelligence can help Facebook do this, according to Venturebeat.
