Liverpool defender Kolo Touré allegedly received a huge offer from an unnamed Chinese Super League squad as his current contract at the Anfield is set to expire this July.

The 35-year-old Ivorian center back, elder brother of Manchester City's Yaya, is said to have been "offered the chance to join a Chinese Super League club for a lucrative payday before he retires," as per the Daily Star.

Touré had played a key role in Jürgen Klopp's system in the Reds' recently concluded term as he filled-in for the suspended Mamadou Sakho, who was penalized with a 30-day ban in April for not passing an anti-doping check.

The Ivory Coast international scored a goal in 14 games in the English top flight this term as he overtook Slovakian defender Martin Skrtel in Klopp's pecking order late in the season. It was said that Touré and Klopp are currently talking informally about extending his stay at the Anfield.

"The future is bright for me and it was good news from the manager, so I'm looking forward to it," said Touré.

As for Klopp, the German boss was adamant that the 5-foot-10 Bouaké, Ivory Coast native is a "very, very important player" to him even if the defender has not seen that many first team chances early in his fresh stint with the Reds.

"Kolo is a very, very important player for us, even when he doesn't play," Klopp said. "How I have heard things is that a big part of Kolo's future is at Liverpool. So I'd say everything is ok."

However, 90min indicated that the rumored Chinese top flight club would be "ready to pounce" on the Ivorian should Liverpool fail to re-sign him this summer.

The report noted that Touré is keen to sign an extension and stay at the Anfield, but he said that he will respect whatever Klopp has decided to do with him.

"I don't know to be honest," Touré said regarding his future in Liverpool. "We will see what will happen and you will have to ask that question to the manager."

"Of course I want to stay. It's a great club to play in, but the manager has his plan and any decision I will respect," he added.
