"Greg, Ali and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl," said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg in a statement. "We cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape."

During the initial stages of Supergirl, Superman was acknowledged as part of Kara's life. However, images of his face were obscured. This element supports the desire of the producers to allow Kara face her destiny as a superhero without depending on her cousin's power.

"For us, Superman is more of an idea than it is a personification of the character, so we're more than happy to have him backlit," Kreisberg told Comic Book in an interview.

"We're perfectly happy to have him swoop in, save Kara in Episode Three, because the real heart of the story is that she then kicks Reactron's butt. She's the one that takes him down, and that's what much more important for us."

Supergirl is slated to air every Monday at 8 PM this fall on the CW.
