Authorities Reveal Scribbled Note from UNC Student’s Killer

As her death anniversary nears, authorities revealed on Friday a note scribbled on a fast food bag in the hopes of finding the killer of a University of North Carolina (UNC) Chapel Hill student.

On September 7, 2012, a 19-year-old UNC student identified as Faith Danielle Hedgepeth was found dead at an apartment complex. The body was discovered by her roommate.

On Friday, authorities have finally released hundreds of pages of notes related to the case after keeping investigation details confidential for almost two years.

Investigators disclosed to the public a note saying "I'm not stupid" together with the words "B***h" and "Jealous" was found near the victim's body. The note was allegedly left by Hedgepeth's killer.

Despite DNA evidence of the teen's killer found all over the crime scene, law enforcement officers have not made any arrest since the murder.

"What we lack now is that key piece of information that can help us connect the strong case with the killer," Chris Blue, the police chief for Chapel Hill, told ABC News.

According to the newly-revealed report, Hedgepeth's partially naked body was found at her apartment located outside the university campus. Her body was discovered by her roommate at around 11 a.m.

According to the timeline of the crime revealed by authorities, Hedgepeth was studying at the campus library until midnight and later went to a bar with her roommate. The two went home at about 2:30 a.m.

Her roommate then left her alone for two hours, which marked the time Hedgepeth was last seen alive at 4:30 a.m. on September 7.

Autopsy reports indicated that she died due to multiple blunt force traumas to the head.

Though medical examination results revealed semen on the victim's body, it was not confirmed whether she had been sexually assaulted. DNA from the semen matched a man's DNA found in another part of the apartment building.

Newly released warrants have identified several men, including an ex-boyfriend of Hedgepeth's roommate, and a man she went to the bar with the night prior her death. These men were identified as persons of interest.
