Top Rank Promotions founder and CEO Bob Arum reportedly said that the newly-crowned World Boxing Organization (WBO) super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko of Ukraine will remain at 130 pounds and will not go back to the 126-pound division to make a title defense fight for his featherweight world title.

"He's going to stay at 130," the veteran boxing promoter Arum said. "We're preparing for Oscar Valdez to fight for the vacant title on our July 23 card."

Arum is set to make an announcement next week about the status of Lomachenko and a Valdez-Rueda world title fight for the vacant WBO featherweight title.

Lomachenko (6-1, 4 KOs) moved up in weight and sensationally knocked out Rocky Martinez (29-3-3, 17 KOs) of the Puerto Rico in the fifth round of their 12-rounder world title bout on June 11 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York to win the WBO super featherweight belt.

It was only the seventh professional boxing fight of the two-time Olympic gold medalist. With the win, Lomachenko etched his name in boxing history as the fastest boxer to claim a world title in two different weight divisions.

The Ukranian pugilist won his maiden world title by beating Gary Russell Jr. of the United States by a majority decision triumph two years ago. Lomachenko has transcended the record set by Japanese boxer Naoya Inoue.

Lomachenko's solitary loss was handed by Orlando Salido of Mexico. He was outpointed by the Mexican boxer in his second fight as a professional by a split decision in a featherweight title bout in March 2014.

Mexico's Valdez (19-0, 17 KOs) squares off with Matias Adrian Rueda (26-0, 23 KOs of Argentina, for what will now be the vacant featherweight belt on the Terence Crawford-Viktor Postol HBO PPV undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
