(Photo : YouTube) AMD has unveiled its roadmap for the release of its latest line of graphics cards.

During its 2016 E3 presentation, AMD disclosed its intended plan for releasing its new line of Polaris-based graphics processing units which will be marketed as the Radeon RX Series.

AMD had already teased the tech community about the RX 480 graphics card when it was unveiled at the 2016 Computex expo in Taipei. At E3, AMD officially announced its full line of Radeon RX graphics cards, as well as the intended markets each of these products are intended to target.

AMD confirmed that it will initially release three Polaris-based graphics card models: the Radeon RX 460, Radeon RX 470, and Radeon RX 480. Each of these products will be sold in different markets with the RX 480 intended for virtual reality, while the RX 460 is affordable gaming machines that could run Esports titles.

AMD claims that the RX 480 will deliver "smooth AAA gaming experiences to gamers at 1440p resolutions." AMD is expecting the RX 480's performance to rival those of its high-end competitors of the previous generation. Initial benchmark results provided by AMD reveal that the RX 480 should perform somewhere around the GTX 970 bracket.

AMD claims that a single Radeon RX 480 cannot reach the performance level of the recently released GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 video cards. However, due to the RX 480's extremely low price point of $199, AMD said that two RX 480s in a Crossfire configuration could easily beat the GTX 1080 which costs around $600.

AMD is yet to reveal the official prices of the RX 470 and the RX 460. However, AMD has already revealed which market the company intends to target with these two graphics cards. AMD said that the RX 470 is aimed at "smooth HD gaming," which many tech critics believe means games running at 1080p at 60 frames per second.

On the other hand, the RX 460 is geared towards "cool and efficient GPU for eSports." This could mean that the RX 460 is marketed for the less hardware-demanding MMO and RTS titles. AMD said that the RX 460 will be "cool and efficient," leading many tech experts to believe that the graphics card will be less power-hungry and will possibly sport a passive cooling system instead of the conventional fan.
