FIBA U17 World Championship: Canada Routs China, Finishes Group Stage With a Perfect 3-0 Record

Canada national under-17 basketball team continued their dominance in the group stage of the ongoing 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship in Zaragoza, Spain on Sunday as they routed China with a 105-54 victory to take the top spot in Group C.

The 6-foot-7-inches tall shooting guard Rowan Barrett paced the young Canadians with game-high 17 points, four rebounds and two blocked shots, while 16-year-old 6-foot-11-inches tall power forward Oluwasimisola Shittu contributed an impressive double-double game performance of 13 points and 11 rebounds along with two steals and two blocked shots.

Four more Canadian players managed to finish the game in double figures. The team shot well in the two-point range, hitting 30 of the 53 attempts made for a decent 56.6 shooting clip. Canada also dominated the boards outrebounding the Chinese national squad 56-41.

Rongqi Huang paced the Chinese national team with 15 points with starting guard Yibo Wang contributing 14 points.

The game was almost completely dominated by the Canadians as they controlled and won all the quarters of the match. They ruled the shaded area and produced 56 points inside the paint compared to China's 24 points and the reserves contributed with a combined 46 points.

The spectacular victory was the world No. 3 basketball team's third in a row as they defeated the team of Australia on the opening day of the tourney with an 81-78 win and demolished Finland with a 92-68 triumph to finish the group stage unbeaten.

Canada will be facing the national team of the Dominican Republic on Tuesday for the Round of 16.

China will face the team of South Korea.
