Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be travelling with the Manchester United squad when they arrive in China for their eight-day pre-season tour on Tuesday.

Jose Mourinho will be leaving the former PSG player behind in spite of being rested for the FIFA-required minimum three-week period after Sweden's early exit from the Euro 2016, according to The Guardian

The former Chelsea manager is considering handing the 34-year-old striker his friendly debut on July 30 when The Red Devils play Galatasaray or Everton on Aug. 3.

Mourinho will be taking charge of his first game for Manchester United against last season's Bundeliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund in the International Champions Cup in Shanghai on July 22.

After playing the German side, the 53-year-old will face off against old adversary and Manchester City's new manager Pep Guardiola when both Manchester teams collide on July 25.

Even though Ibrahimovic will be missing the pre-season tour, Mourinho's two other signing as United manager, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be travelling with the squad to China after training with the team for the very first time on Wednesday.

Wayne Rooney, Chris Smalling and Marcus Rashford, who were part of the England squad at the Euro 2016 are expected to be named in the team travelling to China but will not feature in any match action, according to Mourinho, Goal reported.

United will face last season's Premier League champions Leicester City in the annual Community Shield match at Wembley on Aug. 7 before they start off their league campaign with a trip to Bournemouth on Aug. 14.
