Tony Mitchell Claims Player of the Week Honor for Round 26 of Chinese NBL

Former Alabama Crimson Tides player Tony Mitchell of the Hebei Xianglan had an outstanding double-double performance in the 23rd round of China's professional minor basketball league, earning him the right to be named Asia-Basket.com NBL Player of the Week.

The 26-year-old American professional basketball forward, who previously played for the Jilin Northeast Tigers, had an awesome game; scoring 49 big markers and pulling down 11 boards. Mitchell led Hebei to victory against Guizhou Senhang with a 112-102 on Wednesday.

Mitchell, who was a former NBA D-League player, has turned out to be the Chinese club's top player with his very imposing stats this season. The native of Swainsboro, Georgia has led Hebei Xianglan to a 16-10 win-loss record in the league this season.

According to Asia-Basket report, Mitchell is the league's second top scorer, having an impressive average of 43.8 points per game. He is the NBL's fifth leading playmaker, dishing out an average of 4.6 assists per game.

Michelle is the fifth-best rim protector in China's professional minor basketball league with an average of 2.0 blocked shots per game. He is also in the league's top-ten in steals, as he registers a spectacular 2.9 steals per game, making him the sixth best in the league.

In their most recent game, Mitchell posted a remarkable 63.6 shooting percentage from the two-point area and connected with five three-pointers from beyond the arc. He also went perfect 6 for 6 from the foul line in 45 minutes of playing time against Guizhou, according to EuroBasket.

Mitchell previously played in the Philippines, Russia, Spain, and Italy. He played in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks on a 10-day contract in March 2014.
