Both Team USA and Team Lithuania made it to the semifinal stage of the FIBA World Cup.

Lithuania recently beat Turkey to advance in the tournament.

Turkey had a quick start in the first quarter, with Omer Asik getting six points, four rebounds, and two assists and blocks. They lead Lithuania 18-13 early on.

However, the second quarter saw Lithuania closing in, as they outrebounded the opposing team, 7-1, and proceeded to outscore them, 20 points to only 10. Lithuania took the lead during half time 33-28.

The game had some intense back and forth action, as Turkey went on a 12 point scoring run in the third quarter to regain their lead.

Yet in the last quarter, Lithuania pulled together on both offensive and defensive spectrums of the court, and left Turkey. By the three minute mark, they were 13 points ahead.

They won the game, 73-61.

In other action, USA also secured their spot in the semifinals by beating Slovenia.

Slovenia looked to topple the undefeated reigning champions early on. USA missed their first 10 shots and trailed, 10-8.

By the end of the first half, USA was only ahead by 7 points, 49-42. If not for the height advantage and superior rebounding ability of USA - 16 to Slovenia's five - they would probably have had a bigger deficit in score.

However, they were finally able to pull away in the third quarter.

Late in the third, the USA pulled off a 27-10 run, that clearly established their dominance against their Slovenian opponents. With two minutes left in the third, USA was leading 76-54.

At the start of the fourth, USA immediately scored 10 in a row. They ended the game and got the win, 119-76. They scored a total of 70 points in the second half alone.

USA and Slovenia are on a collision course against each other in the semifinal matchup this Thursday.
