Chinese tech giant Baidu has announced that it is launching a smart marketing lab. This new project will focus on accelerating the company's marketing and advertising efforts through the use of artificial intelligence and augmented reality technology.

Baidu is not the only company that has set out to establish a smart platform. In fact, most tech companies are already creating in-house platforms as analysts are predicting that the market for artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and augmented reality will grow over the years.

According to China Tech News, Baidu chief scientist Wu Enda said that the company is looking forward to the development of augmented reality applications, instead of the more popular virtual reality. Baidu is said to be focusing on developing augmented reality applications for mobile devices. The company also believes that augmented reality combined with artificial intelligence will be the next big thing in the tech industry.

Earlier this month, Baidu launched DuSee, the company's augmented reality platform for smartphones. DuSee will be integrated into several Baidu mobile services, like the Mobile Baidu search app which is currently the biggest search platform in China.

DuSee is a collaboration between the Baidu Research Institute of Deep Learning and the company's search services, sales, and marketing divisions. Baidu said DuSee is the product of its 3D vision research program.

Aside from its integration into Baidu products, the DuSee platform was also used to develop solutions for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Long Wheelbase search engine marketing campaign and the Ultra DOUX, a new hair care brand from L'Oreal China.
