Badminton's reigning men's singles world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei is unruffled by the mind games of his longtime nemesis Lin Dan of China ahead of their clash at the 2016 Rio Games.

According to Sun Daily, Malaysia's national singles coach Tey Seu Bock says that Chong Wei, a gold medal hopeful, is unfazed by the psychological tactics of the two-time defending Olympic champion Lin. Lin had said that he would still be around if the Malaysian badminton ace chooses to compete in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

"This kind of mind games will not affect Chong Wei as he has been in the sport for a long time and knows the styles and tactics of the Chinese players as pressure builds up when the sport begins this Thursday," he said on Monday after a training session at Pavilion 4, Riocentro.

The veteran badminton mentor believes that Chong Wei, who has won two consecutive silver medals in the previous Olympic Games, is a different player following his eight-month doping ban last year and has gone through a lot to be where he is now.

Tey Seu Bock, who has been training the two-time Asia Badminton Championship king since 2002, believes that the 33-year-old native of Bagan Serai, Perak can handle the pressure.

"His spirit is high, and confidence level too is good. The secret is how to handle the pressure on match day. It's the decisive moments that count, on who can pick the gold here," he said.

Chong Wei is likely to meet Lin in the semi-finals and possibly Chen Long in the final.

According to New Strait Times, the Malaysian shuttler will start his Group A campaign with a match against Soren Opti of Suriname on Thursday. Chong Wei will later face Singaporean Derek Wong on August 14.
