He played college basketball at the University of Portland Pilots of the NCAA Division I West Coast Conference from 2002 to 2006, averaging 14.87 points, 3.01 assists, 2.84 rebounds, and 1.37 steals per match in a total of 115 official games played.

Jeter went undrafted in the 2006 NBA Draft but was signed by the Sacramento Kings in July 2010. Jeter played 62 official games for the Kings in the 2010-11 season, averaging 4.1 points, 2.6 assists, and 1.1 rebounds in 13.8 minutes of playing time
