US TV: NBC "Meet the Press" Host David Gregory Leaves Show Amidst Controversy

NBC TV's "Meet the Press" Host David Gregory was unceremoniously fired on Thursday causing a firestorm of recrimination. Chuck Todd, NBC political director, was named to replace the controversial host of the weekly Sunday news interview program that debuted on Nov. 6, 1947.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has brokered a deal between the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), operator of the country's largest commuter rail road system, and the union, preventing a massive labor strike that could have crippled New York's metropolitan area.
