China has unveiled the longest sightseeing escalator, trailing 688 meters (2,257 feet) long, in the Enshi Grand Canyon in Hubei province.

Chinese consumers splurged a whopping 1.2 trillion yuan ($180 billion) domestically during the country’s Golden Week.

Chinese consumers splurged a whopping 1.2 trillion yuan ($180 billion) domestically during the country's Golden Week, according to WWD, up 10.7 percent compared to that of in 2015 based on the Ministry of Commerce (MOC)'s data.

Golden Week, which celebrates in China lived up to its name this week when an estimated 16 million people turned the Great Wall of China into a veritable human traffic jam. Those numbers included 8 million people visiting the wall in one day, the most in one day since 2009. Accessible public sections designed for tourists last week were packed like Nanjing Road in Shanghai with wall-to-wall human traffic.
