An Anthony Davis-LaMarcus Aldridge trade between the New Orleans Pelicans and San Antonio Spurs could happen in midseason, according to rumors.

Davis, 23, has been stuffing the stat sheet as he scored 50 and 45 points in the Pelicans first two games and grabbed 15 and 17 rebounds respectively. He toned down during the team's third game with 18 points and five boards but came back again in their fourth game with 35 points and 15 rebounds.

Despite his recent impressive performance, one thing is consistent with Anthony and the Pelicans: they are losing. New Orleans is 0-4 so far in the season, and things are not looking bright for the squad in the foreseeable future.

Some analysts have said that Anthony does not have enough support from his current teammates, which is leading to him getting overworked and that could prove detrimental for the Pelicans in the long run. Others believe that sooner or later, Anthony will request for a trade to get out of the current rut he is in New Orleans.

Chat Sports Net indicated that the Pelicans could trade him for Spurs veteran power forward Aldridge, who is also rumored to be unhappy at San Antonio.

With Kawhi Leonard currently getting the franchise's attention as its number one player and Pau Gasol emerging as a better big man fit in head coach Gregg Popovich's system, the report mentioned that Aldridge is "not happy with the Spurs anymore" and "will become a surplus in the roster."

If Aldridge does move to the Pelicans, then the former Blazer will finally fulfill his desire to be a team's focal point. There will be no other superstar in the squad to share the spotlight with in New Orleans.

Meanwhile, with the Spurs, Davis will also have the supporting cast he greatly deserves to finally have a breakthrough career. He could also be the kind of big man Coach Popovich would want to build the team's future on.

However, Aldridge recently denied the reports of his unhappiness in San Antonio, saying that "I'm winning. Of course I'm happy," via ESPN.

The Spurs are currently third in the Western Conference with a 4-1 record. Their only loss so far was against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night at the AT&T Center.
