Manchester United reportedly offered a weekly salary of $273,000 to Antoine Griezmann for the Atletico Madrid forward to move to the Old Trafford this winter.

According to The Sun, the English Premier League powerhouse have already "discussed personal terms" with Paul Pogba's France international teammate as the club held talks with Griezmann's representatives this week.

The report noted that if Griezmann's transfer pushes through, he and fellow Frenchman Pogba will become "joint top earners" at the Old Trafford as head coach Jose Mourinho aims to put the Red Devils back on top of the Premier League and in Europe.

Griezmann, 25, is said to be set to earn the same £220,000 ($273,000) weekly wage given to Pogba when the latter transferred to United from Juventus in a world record-breaking deal last summer. While personal stipulations are already reached, United has not yet come to terms with Atletico Madrid on the amount of transfer fee to acquire Griezmann.

Atletico is rumored to be demanding $106.5 million to activate Griezmann's release clause, which is more or less $4 million short of what United had spent for Pogba to break the world transfer record.

Caught Offside reported that Atletico has been firm of their position to keep the Frenchman for the long run, but that United is still confident that they can pull off a deal as the club is said to be willing to add active players as well to sweeten up the package and ensure Los Colchoneros' agreement.

Griezmann is considered as one of the top goalscorers and playmakers in world football right now, finishing third in the recent Ballon d'Or balloting behind superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

He has scored 67 goals in a total of 129 games in all competitions since he was acquired by Atleti from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2014 for a fee of $29 million.

Griezmann has led France during the Euro 2016 competitions with six goals.
