Powerhouse Spanish clubs Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly both interested in acquiring Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli in the ongoing winter transfer window.

The Mirror reported that La Liga's two biggest football clubs are ready to spend more than £70 million ($86 million) to buy the 20-year-old England international from the Spurs. However, it is not yet known if the English Premier League side would be ready to cash in on the young midfielder at the moment.

Tottenham snagged Alli from former Football League Championship squad Milton Keynes Dons in February 2015 during the final hours of that year's winter window for only £5 million ($6 million). The Spurs are set to earn a huge profit should the team decide to sell him to either Barcelona or Real Madrid.

The report noted that Barça has put Alli on "top of their wanted list" this January as the Catalonia giants considers him as "one of the hottest young players in world football".

Interestingly, head coach Luis Enrique's side is again being challenged by their El Clásico arch-rivals Real Madrid, according to latest football rumors.

Alli, who has scored 10 times in 19 English top flight games this season, including seven in the Spurs' last four matches, has been on a "meteoric rise" from a League One footballer into a full-pledged first-tier star in only his second season in the Premier League.

Last season, he ended up with 10 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions and he has been playing even better this term.

Caught Offside indicated that Los Blancos have the edge over Barça with the capital city club's history with the Spurs following the deals of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric in the past years.

However, Real has to wait until the summer to officially make a bid for Alli because of their current transfer ban from FIFA and the Camp Nou residents could reportedly take advantage of it.

Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino is said to be keen on keeping Alli at the White Hart Lane for the foreseeable future as he has the youngster in his future plans for the club. It remains to be seen whether senior officials in Tottenham will force him to sell Alli for the right price.
