A First Look at Google's Nexus 6

Google has kept the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 relatively well hidden up until now. There have been one or two leaks for the tablet and a few more renders for the smartphone, but nothing decisive.

Thanks to semi-retired leaker @evleaks, the public has gotten its first real look at the Nexus 6. The leak shows a press photo of the Nexus 6, without any watermarks normally added. This is the first major look at the new device and the design language.

The Nexus 6 is a little thicker than expected, with a two-tone design on the front and back. On the version in the photo, this is black and dark blue, but with Motorola on board for development, there may be multiple color choices for the Nexus 6.

Motorola is expected to add a 5.9-inch HD display, along with a 13MP sensor on the back. It wouldn't be surprising to see Motorola's logo-dent on the back of the device, alongside the Nexus logo.

One subtle hint on the front of the device is the time "5:00", this might be nothing, but unless it is a major coincidence, this might have just confirmed the next update to Android will be 5.0. Android 5.0 will be named Lollipop, according to many rumors on the topic.

The Nexus 6 will reportedly launch on October 15 with Android L. The Nexus 9 might come a bit earlier. This would be an odd way for Google to do things, but they have never been the best when it comes to events and product launches.
