Amazon Tests Water with $200 Kindle Voyage, But Is It Worth The Price?

(Photo : Reuters ) Amazon is pulling out all the stops to make this the best e-reader in the world, but will people pay the $200 premium price?

Now that e-commerce giant Amazon has a full hold of the e-reader market over Barnes and Noble, it needs to convince consumers that the Kindle Voyage offers more than does a cheap Android tablet.

In terms of a reading experience, the Kindle Voyage is miles in front of tablets. The LCD display on tablets, especially cheaper ones, does not work well in sunlight and Amazon offers some of the best brightness settings for any device.

But when it comes to things other than reading, the Kindle Voyage doesn't have a whole lot else to offer.

Before buying the Kindle Voyage consumers should ask themselves if they want a tablet, and if so, do they want to spend another $150 for a decent experience? For those who prefer to just read books and magazines, it might be better to buy the Kindle Voyage.

The Kindle Voyage is considered by many critics to be the best tablet in the world by a significant margin. A distant second place goes to the Kindle Paperwhite, last year's edition, which sells for $80. This is the only real competition for Amazon - its own earlier generation e-reader.

The Kindle Paperwhite offers a lot of the same, but the Kindle Voyage has a better display, faster processor and a much more comfortable build. It might not be worth $80 for some people, but for anyone wanting the best out of their reading experience, it's definitely worth the price.
