PC users are practically salivating at getting their hands on a PC version of "Grand Theft Auto V" - so much so that users have now been testing their luck and downloading huge files full of viruses.

Multiple media sites have been circulating a fake GTA V PC Beta file claiming that PC users can test the game and how it's currently available to download from Steam, an internet-based digital distribution site.

There were also some photos of players supposedly playing the PC version going around in an effort to add some legitimacy to the fake beta file.

They were correct on being able to download it from Steam, however, what users didn't know before installing was the 19GB file was actually full of viruses and malware.

Take-Two Interactive, software and developing company part of GTA V, has shown the infinitive to stop the scams by shutting down sites promoting the fake PC beta file. Getgtavbeta.com and betagtav.com have already been taken down.

In fact, if someone tries loading one of these pages in their browser, it transfers over to Rockstar Games' site reassuring fans that there is no beta test.

"PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO PRE-RELEASE 'BETA' TEST FOR GRAND THEFT AUTO V," it said on the Rockstar's page in all caps. "IF YOU SEE ADS OR SOLICITATIONS TO JOIN A BETA PROGRAM, BEWARE AS THIS IS LIKELY SOME TYPE OF ONLINE PHISHING SCAM."

GTA V will be released for PC on Jan. 27. It's unlikely a Beta version of GTA V will even be released considering Rockstar haven't released one in the past before. PC users will just have to endure the wait a little longer.
