(Photo : Microsoft) Microsoft has set up a handy how-to guide for MacBook owners wanting to switch to Surface Pro 3.

Microsoft is going after MacBook owners with its new 'Switch' page, showing step-by-step guides on how to move from Mac OS X to Windows 8.1.

The guides are targeting potential Surface Pro 3 customers, showing other guides on how to set up the Surface Pro 3 and what is different coming from MacBook.

Microsoft has not released official numbers, but the Surface Pro 3 has already sold three times the original Surface numbers, according to various outlets. It should hit over 2 million sales before Microsoft launches the next annual Surface Pro.

The target price range for the Surface Pro 3 does fit in with Apple's MacBook, making the two computers rivals, even if they do not share the same form factor.

The four guides include getting started with Windows 8.1, various question and answers moving from Mac OS X to Windows, moving content from the previous device to Surface Pro 3 and using iPhone, iCloud and iTunes on the Surface Pro 3.

Microsoft has been going heavy on the advertisements for Surface Pro 3, trying to make customers change from Mac OS X.  Apple has not made its own Mac vs PC adverts in a while, and has laid off the advert snipes for the past few years, focusing more on advertisements of its own products.

Mac had its best quarter in the third quarter of 2014, selling 5.5 million Mac units. It puts Mac as the second largest market for Apple, in front of iPad and behind iPhone.
