SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk revealed his plans to develop and launch satellites that will support his mission to establish the first human colony on Mars.

Musk announced that SpaceX's Seattle engineering office will open its doors for employment to 700 and up to 1,000 people who will build a commercial satellite business that can contribute expertise and revenue to the success of Musk's Martian colony dream.

On January 10, SpaceX successfully launched a cargo resupply mission to the International Space Station with its Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon space capsule. SpaceX's first ever attempt to land a rocket on a floating ocean platform on the Atlantic Ocean failed when the first stage booster exploded upon landing on the barge.

To improve SpaceX's rockets for reuse, Musk says the rockets will carry 50 percent more hydraulic fuel in the next launch. If proven to be a success, this next rocket landing can cut costs during space launches as rockets will now be reusable and can be reflown.

Musk believes rocket reusability can be a pivotal breakthrough that will take space exploration and space technology to the next level. Not to mention this can also be an important step to build an efficient transport system for SpaceX's Martian mission.

The Martian transport system will be based on a completely new structure, says Musk, who plans  to reveal this to the public by the end of 2015. SpaceX aims to transport 100 metric tons of payload to Mars, which he says will require a large spacecraft and a powerful booster system.

SpaceX will also release its new Martian spacesuits soon as its designs are near completion, which will be later this year.
