Chu's stepping stone to showbiz was participating in the prestigious beauty pageant, Miss Hong Kong 2012. Prior to joining the pageant, she worked as an administrative assistant before deciding to embark on a different venture.
Chu became the popular choice for the title but due to TVB's technical server failures and inability to parse live votes on the coronation night, Chu only earned second runner up after Carat Cheung was crowned Miss Hong Kong 2012.
After seeing her acting skills in Tomorrow Is Another Day and Hippocratic Crush, Chu is seen as a very promising talent.
However, the 26 year old, in comparison to other actresses is still inexperienced when it comes to acting and she has a lot more to prove that she has the capacity to lead the series on her own.
Producer Lam Chi Wah saw Chu's acting potential and was cast an important role in the drama EU: Overtime Mission along a set of fresh cast such as Moon Lau and Vincent Wong.
The lead role in this drama was initially offered to Myolie Wu but rejected it. The public expected actress Kate Tsui to replace Wu.
For TVB executive Catherine Tsang, she truly believes that Chu's upcoming role in a police drama will help catapult her career into a different level since it will make the actress standout in a sea of new actors and actresses.
Chu is extremely grateful for the opportunity given to her and promises to work hard and follow the footsteps of the older and successful actors.
