Escaping with nothing but a bruised jaw, Cleveland Indians hurler Carlos Carrasco recalled the horror moments after being hit by a line driver by slugger Melky Cabrera in a 4-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.

Carassco, 28, admitted that he was shaken up after Cabrera's line driver slipped off his gloves and hit the right side of his face, sending him to the ground in grimacing pain. The Venezuelan pitcher added he blacked out for split seconds, but was nevertheless thankful that the scary moment spared him with just soreness on both sides of his face.

"I remember James came to me and started talking," Carrasco told the press via the Los Angeles Times. "That's the part I remember. When I got hit I saw everything blurry and I blacked out."

Carrasco, whose next appearance on the mound was moved from Sunday's game against the Minnesota Twins to Monday's series opener against the White Sox, said that taking a line driver certain gave him some scare, but he also realized that things like that are all part of the game.

"It's already behind me. I'm getting ready for my next start," Carrasco said. "It's in the past."

Carrasco underway X-Ray and CT scan to further determine the extent of the damage, and both results were negative.

Carrasco split his first two starts of the season, allowing five hits and two earned runs while boasting 10 strikeouts and 2.84 ERA. He's a career 4.28 ERA pitcher with a 20-27 record and 314 strikeouts.
