Melissa Rivers, daughter of late TV host Joan Rivers, on Wednesday told media about her mother's feud with former "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno and how he had snubbed her during an annual Hollywood Reporter's event.

Joan Rivers, who died last September at age 81, had lots of friends and enemies in Hollywood and Jay Leno, former host of "Tonight Show," like Johnny Carson before him, reportedly did not see eye to eye with late comedian and television host.

Melissa Rivers talked about this feud over at Howard Stern's SiriusXM radio show on Wednesday, May 6. She also mentioned about her near disagreement with the former "Talk Show" show host a couple of months after her mother died.

It was in December when Melissa Rivers was asked to be guest speaker at the Women in Entertainment Breakfast, The Hollywood Reporter's annual event --- three months after Joan's death in September. Melissa Rivers recalled that while stood with her coffee at the reception area, Leno glanced at her and then looked away.

She told Stern in the interview that she resented Jay Leno for not making an effort to walk over to her and offer his condolences. Melissa Rivers added that it would have been an opportunity to make things right between them. But according to her, she just thought that Leno simply had no courage.

For his part, Jay Leno's representatives released a statement saying that if it were true that indeed Leno saw her and had recognized her, definitely he would have approached her and offered his condolences. However, he truly did not realize that it was Joan River's daughter, Melissa Rivers and apologized for offending her.

It had been known that Joan Rivers had resented Jay Leno taking over Johnny Carson's show, whose antagonism prevented her from being a guest in the "Late Show." In the 1970s, Joan was actually a frequent guest on the show and in 1983, became Carson's regular guest host. Later however, the two had a misunderstanding and were no longer friends.

Meanwhile, according to Jay Leno he was just continuing Carson's ban on Rivers because he had great respect for him and continued to say that he knew Carson did not really want Rivers on the show. After Carson's death, Joan's resentment seemed to have transferred to Leno, making it awkward between them.

In 2014, after Leno's stint at the "Tonight Show," Jimmy Fallon asked Joan to appear on his opening night. The following month, after 25 years, she was finally invited to be a guest on the show.
