Jenkins worked out with Dallas last week, together with other notorious names such as Kris Durham, B.J. Cunningham, Tommy Streeter, Ben Tate, Daniel Thomas, and Felix Jones, to have a chance to land a spot on the Cowboys roster for the coming season.

It seems like the former Illinois standout's wish was granted as he was signed up to be the team's fifth pass-catcher after the Cowboys released Chris Boyd due to injuries, according to Fox Sports' David Helman.

This added more depth to Dallas' wideout lineup, as the team was missing the services of Dwayne Harris who became a free agent last March. The Cowboys did not draft any wide receivers last April, but they have clearly addressed this concern by signing Jenkins.

Jenkins was the former first round 30th overall draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2012. He was with the Niners for only a single season, playing in only three regular season and a couple of playoff games without catching a pass as a rookie, as per Yahoo Sports.

He was then traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013 for Jon Baldwin, where he played for two seasons and was able to record 17 receptions for 223 yards. His first career catch came in a September 2013 game for the Chiefs, a 6-yarder, 511 days after he was drafted by the Niners.

During college while playing for the Illinois Fighting Illini, he was included in the First Team All-Big Ten as he recorded 146 receptions for 2,022 yards. He also had 11 touchdowns during his final season in Illinois.

Jenkins gets to have a brand new start with the Cowboys as he needs to revive a thus far disappointing NFL career.
