Rumors of Katy Perry allegedly creating a new song as a form of revenge to Taylor Swift started circulating on June 8. A blogger reportedly noticed on BMI's registration Web site that a song called "1984" has appeared and that the artist was none other than the "Dark Horse" hit maker.

Now reports are claiming that the new song seen on BMI is not real.

Since the former country crooner's new album is titled "1989," critics and fans immediately theorized Katy's "1984" was dedicated to Taylor Swift. The 25-year-old recently released the music video for "Bad Blood," which everybody knows to be a diss at Perry, according to TIME.

The theory may be a bit of a stretch, but news sites quickly picked up the scoop, and it appeared true.

As it turned out, speculations were bogus.

Two days following the apparently fake news, the management team behind Katy cleared the rumors, confirming that the 30-year-old had no relation to the song whatsoever.

"Katy Perry's managers at Direct Management Group confirm that this story is completely false," Perry's representative told Billboard. "Katy Perry was not involved in writing, singing, recording or registering this song."

Meanwhile, "Dark Horse" has just reached its one billionth view, reported Idolator.

As for "Bad Blood," the song only made it to Top 1 for one week reportedly because of the song's marketing and music video, which was filled with her famous friends. The hype had been called "lukewarm," as reported by Headline Planet.

"Bad Blood" is currently listed in "1989's" lowest-ranking singles, following "Style," "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space," reported The Inquisitr.

The rift between the two pop stars started in 2014 after Swift said "Bad Blood" is about a female singer who had been nasty to her. As if in response, following Swift's statement, Perry tweeted, "Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing." Regina George is the female protagonist in the hit comedy "Mean Girls."

Last year, Katy was interviewed by Billboard. She told the publication that had something to do with getting her point of view about the bad blood issue, according to Mirror. The "Roar" singer said she was not going to let hits just come at her, adding that a person who is defaming her character is "going to hear about it."
