"Jurassic World" continues to roar its way up to the top, breaking box office records, and its take from sales in China has been a dino-sized reason for this. In just 12 days since it was introduced to the second-biggest movie market in the world, the dino flick broke records and has raked in $161.7 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

So far, "Jurassic World" has had 339,013 screenings and over 10.88 million admissions in the mainland, according to data from Entgroup.

However, it was not only the Chinese but also the rest of the world who have been wowed by the adrenaline and special effects that the film had to offer. The success of "Jurassic World" in China shows the strong performance that Hollywood has this 2015.

Films like Universal's "Furious 7" as well as Marvel's "Avengers: Age of Ultron," to name a few, have reportedly made stellar returns for Hollywood.

Meanwhile, the roaring performance of "Jurassic World" may lose its momentum as China's annual cinema "blackout" period will began Friday, casting Hollywood movies aside and giving way for domestic films to get a chance in the Chinese market until the end of July, reported China Entertainment News.

When the first dinosaur movie "Jurassic Park" was released in 1993, China was completely cut off from foreign films, providing no chance for Chinese audience to see the film in theaters.

But in 2013, a 3-D re-release of "Jurassic Park" not only gave fans a chance to enjoy the film on the big screen but also did rack up ticket sales, which amounted to $56 million. The amount is reportedly more than around $11 million as compared to the sales of the U.S. re-release of the original film.

To stoke the interest of Chinese fans even more, Universal took "Jurassic World" stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard to China. Director Colin Trevorrow also came along during the press tour in late May, reported The Los Angeles Times.

Chris Pratt's role as Star-Lord in the Disney film "Guardians of the Galaxy" last year also had a huge impact for the film in China.

All this success for "Jurassic World" does not mean bad business for homegrown Chinese films though. They have reportedly been doing good at the box office this year, with some even earning $150 million.
