China is facing imminent storms and possibly the occurrence of a flood this weekend after Chinese meteorological authorities spotted signs of the forthcoming natural disturbance.

In light of the incoming storms, the Chinese meteorological center has issued advisories to its citizens: a blue storm alert and a warning on a possible flood, China.org has learned.

Authorities foresee that the storms will mostly hit the southern regions as well as Yangtze River's middle and lower reaches.

In a statement, China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) noted that the storms will strike the souther regions of China, including the provinces of Yunnan, Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Fujian and Zhejiang.

Fortunately, authorities are only predicting less powerful storms, thus explains the blue storm alert.  In China's four-tier weather alert system, blue is the least worrying warning, followed by yellow, orange and red being the most severe advisory, according to CRIEnglish.com.

Meanwhile, the NMC noted that northern regions - especially Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Fujian - should be expecting torrential rains or violent downpour.

Since China is going to get hit by more storms, local authorities warn citizens of a possibility of a flood, along with other natural disturbances like landslides, waterlogging and many others.

Amid the strong rainfalls, the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters issued a flood warning to areas near the Yangtze River, specifically in the middle and lower reaches of the River.

Thus far, the start of July has not been so good to China. Heavy downpours have affected about four million people, and authorities even revealed that at least 15 people are feared of being dead amid the natural calamity, reports ITV.com.

Floods damaged numerous homes and vehicles in Sichuan, a province in southwest China. The total number of the damaged homes and vehicles is still unknown as of late.

In Barkam County, thousands of residents were evacuated after a huge landslide struck the area. In Chongqing, a house collapsed, burying a couple under its ruins. Good thing firefighters managed to rescue the couple Tuesday morning.

Latest updates related to the storm alert and flood warning brought about by the higher-than-average rainfalls are still not available.
