Last April, Dallas Cowboys' Greg Hardy faced a 10-game suspension without pay from the NFL for "conduct detrimental to the league," as per CBS Sports.

Rumors emerged that the 26-year-old defensive end had lost the will to contest the severity of the punishment and would no longer seek legal battle to appeal it. However, more recent reports said otherwise.

According to Mike Florio of NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk, Hardy is keen on challenging "in court an arbitration ruling that imposes anything more than a two-game suspension" for him.

Florio's article mentioned that as per the league's Personal Conduct Policy during the time committed his misconduct, the standard punishment for a player involved in a first offense domestic violence case is a two-game suspension with no pay.

Hardy believes that he is still under that policy so he does not deserve a suspension that is more than two games as the guidelines stated.

Meanwhile, the NFL Players Association supported Hardy in his appeal, saying that the league should not have retroactively employed the rule to the former Mississippi standout.

Hardy was already suspended for 15 games with pay last season for the same reasons when he was still with the Carolina Panthers. What made this current penalty more severe is the fact that he is set to lose huge cash in the process.

Bleacher Report indicated that Hardy's presence in the Cowboys' defensive line is much-needed for the coming season. Aside from Hardy, Dallas is also without linebacker Rolando McClain to start the season as the latter was also suspended for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

The Cowboys need all the help they can get in defense are they are set to face the top offensive teams in the NFL during the first four weeks of the 2015 season.

Hardy is considered as one of the best defensive ends in the NFL right now. He registered 15 sacks for the Panthers the last time he played a complete year in 2013.

Hardy was out most of time last year and he said that he does not want that to happen again this year as he is eager to contribute more to his new team and looks to revitalize his struggling career.
