The NFL stuck to its decision of penalizing New England Patriot's superstar quarterback Tom Brady with a four-game suspension for his alleged involvement in the notorious football manipulating scandal called "Deflategate", as reported by CNN.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced the ruling on Tuesday and claimed that Brady was trying to "hide evidence of his own participation in the underlying scheme to alter the footballs" by destroying his personal mobile phone that allegedly contained proof of his involvement in the misdemeanor.

The four-time Super Bowl champion's agent and attorney, Don Yee, defended his client by saying that Brady "did nothing wrong" in tossing away an old phone as he merely wanted to protect all his personal information contained in it. Also, Yee said that all the digital and electronic data were already presented to the commissioner beforehand so they did not see the need to present the cell phone any longer.

Yee said all the information they presented to the commissioner was ignored and "we don't know why."

It is good to note as well that if Brady really intended to hide evidence, he could have simply deleted the particular messages away rather than breaking the phone entirely.

Brady said during the 10-hour long appeal hearing that it was his normal practice to "destroy" his old phones whenever he gets a new one.

The three-time Super Bowl MVP went to social media to express his disappointment regarding the commissioner's decision. In a long post, Brady said that he was disappointed with the ruling and that he and the Patriots did nothing wrong, via USA Today.

He also stated his disagreement with the story about him ripping off evidence by destroying his old phone. He even mentioned the brand names of his new and old phones and insisted that the NFL already made it clear that it "would not be subjected to investigation under any circumstances."

Meanwhile, Boston Globe's Dan Shaughnessy said that Patriot fans should just accept the reality that their prized quarterback cheated and his ill-timed cell phone destruction habit did not help to clear his name in any way.

Still, the NFL Players Association declared that they would file a federal court appeal on Brady's behalf with regards to the league ruling soon.
