Sarah Jessica Parker who made famous Carrie Bradshaw on screen and came to be known for the iconic Manolos, never wanted to star in "Sex and the City" series on HBO.

Broadway veteran, Seth Rudesky, who recently worked with the style icon and her husband Matthew Broderick at a Broadway event, has revealed in a column for Playbill that the actress and designer did everything possible to get out of the role. The actor told that it was because Parker did not want to be tied up to a particular series for many years, US Weekly reported.

"However, she loved the script, so she filmed it and then forgot about it. Months later she found out the show was picked up and she completely wanted to get out of it. I mean, completely," he said. Rudesky added that the 50-year-old actress loved to move from gig to gig and in her own words was a "journeyman."

The veteran actor said how Parker, who became famous for her 1980s sitcom "Square Pegs", employed some extreme measures to wash her hands off the role. He recounted how the mother of three told HBO that she would film three projects for free if they would release her from her contract.

But, the HBO bosses managed to convince her. Parker, after reading the script penned by Darren Starr, fell in love with the smart, funny writing. So she filmed the first episode - and then forgot about it, Rudesky said, going down memory lane. He added that the script was written by Starr with Parker in mind.

The successful show which began in 1998 had a run of 94 episodes and garnered eight Emmys in six years. The series was made into two movies later and gave the pop culture several lexicons.

The actor revealed that Parker told him that there may be another "Sex and the City" movie in the making. "She told us that there may be a project coming up involving all the ladies," Rudetsky said. The actress's co-stars in the hit series were Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, and Samantha Jones.
