Fletcher has scored 23 goals in his 86 Premier League appearances for the Black Cats. He is in the final year of his contract with the football club.

Sunderland is about to sign Senegalese Dame N'Doye from Trabzonspor, leaving Fletcher's chances of playing regularly this season looking slim.

Shanhai Shenhua and Beijing Guoan  have also shown interest in signing Ivorian Cheick Tiote.

The club is based in Kangqiao, Shanghai and currently participates in the Chinese Super League.

Recently, reports surfaced that the Chinese outfits are already in talks with Newcastle United for a deal worth over $11 million for the midfielder.

Tiote has made 11 Premier League appearances this season and his contract will expire in 18 months time. He is one of the longest serving Newcastle players in the current team.

Chinese clubs are looking to invest heavily in English Premier League players with the potential to increase commercial revenues. The likes of John Terry and Wayne Rooney have also been approached.

Chinese outfits have also been very active in enticing South American and African players to move and to continue their career in the Chinese league.
