NBA News: DeRozan, Lowry, Durant Bag Kia NBA Players of the Month Award

(Photo : gettyimages.com) The dynamic duo of Lowry and DeRozan led the Raptors to 12-2 record in the month of January, helping the team reach a franchise record of 11-game winning streak.

Toronto Raptors' hotshot duo DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry and Oklahama City Thunder's superstar Kevin Durant were chosen as Kia NBA Players of the Month for Eastern Conference and Western Conference respectively for the month of January.

It is the second straight month for Durant to receive this award. The 2014 NBA Most Valuable Player got the nod, along with his teammate five-time All-Star Russell  Westbrook, for their outstanding performance in December.

According to the NBA's official website, Durant led Oklahoma to a 13-3 record in January. He was the league's second best in scoring averaging 28.5 points per game with 9.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists. He is shooting 49.7 percent from the field and has an 88.8 percent shooting accuracy from the foul line.

The 2007 NBA Draft 2nd overall pick scored at least 25 points in 11 occasions, including the 128-122 overtime win against the New York Knicks on January 26, wherein, he scored a season-high 44 points.

The 2009 NBA draft 9th overall pick DeRozan ranks second in the East in scoring having an average of 23.9 points per outing for the month with 4.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists.

The former USC Trojans star reached the 30-point mark four times, highlighted by a season-high 35 points game performance in their 97-88 victory over the Washington Wizards on January 8.

Lowry, the 2006 NBA draft 29th overall pick, finished the month of January with 21.7 points per game to rank seventh and fourth in assists with 6.7 averages. The two-time All-Star shoots 45.1 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from beyond the arc region.

The Toronto Raptor star led the conference in minutes with 39.0 minutes per game and sits in the top in steals with 2.36 steals per outing. Lowry recorded nine games with at least 20 points and four games with 10 or more assists.
