iPad Air 3 vs. iPad Air 2: Specs and Features Comparison

The new iPad Air 3, set to be launched on March 15, may possibly deliver the first major update to Apple's tablet line since October 2014 when the Cupertino-based tech company introduced the iPad Air 2.

The iPad Air 3 is rumored to feature same specs as the iPad Pro - such as improved speakers and a Smart Connector that may possibly debut a smaller Smart Keyboard. Speculations also include a rear-LED flash which would be a totally new feature for the Apple iPad line. Below is a comparison between the iPad Air 2 from 2014 and the upcoming iPad Air 3.

The iPad Air 2 has a 240 x 169.5 x 6.1 mm screen whereas the iPad Air 3 is expected to come out 0.1 mm wider and 0.05 mm thicker. The iPad Air 2 successor is speculated to look like a smaller version of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and while both versions sport a 9.7-inch display, the new iPad Air 3 is said to support a 4K resolution, which is an upgrade from the iPad Air 2's 1536 x 2048 pixels resolution.

The iPad Air 2 features the Apple A8X with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB storage options, while the iPad Air 3 is speculated to come with Apple A9X SoC and 4GB of RAM with the same aforementioned storage variants.

The iPad Air 2 sports an 8 megapixel iSight camera with 1.2 megapixel front camera, while its successor is rumored to feature the same 8 megapixel iSight camera, it may also come with a new LED flash and 2.1 megapixel front camera.

The iPad Air 3 may possibly come with four speakers (as opposed to the previous version's two) and a new Apple Pencil stylus support. Lastly, the upcoming Air 3 will reportedly come with a smaller battery, but with the same capacity as the predecessor's 27.3 watt-hour battery. The new model will still be released with gold, space gray and silver color options, but with the addition of rose gold.

According to reports, Apple is revamping its 4-inch iPhone screen by changing the iPhone 5S with the iPhone 5SE which comes with an A9 chip, Live Photos support, Apple Pay and better cameras. The iPhone 5SE has the same price as the iPhone 5S and with the same 16 GB and 64 GB model variants. Finally, the Apple Watch is said to be focusing on new software and bands, which is said to feature a number of new colors, a space black version, a band made of a new material and new Hermes band.
