The Washington Wizards made a fourth quarter rally to beat the league's last-place Philadelphia 76ers with a 116-108 victory at the Verizon Center on Monday evening.

John Wall took charge of the business to save the Wizard from falling prey to the 76ers, who have just won eight of their 60 games this season. The three-time All-Star led Washington with a game-high 37 points while shooting 13 for 26 from the field in 41:55 minutes of playing.

"You always appreciate a win but it's not the way we wanted to win," Wall, who sank 16 points of his total output in the final quarter, said. "I feel like we took a step back."

The win gave the Wizards their third straight victory in a row since beating the same squad in their game on road on February 26 at the 76ers' home court. Washington has won six of the last eight games they played since the All-Star break.

The Washington team now has a record of 29 wins and 30 losses and just one-and-a-half game behind the four teams tied for the last three Eastern Conference postseason spots.

Starting center Marcin Gortat contributed 13 points and posted a career-high 20 rebounds, along with 3 blocked shots. Former Phoenix Suns forward Markieff Morris added a double-double game production of 16 points and 13 rebounds with 2 steals and 1 blocked shot in 37.27 minutes of playing.

"We came out nonchalant, didn't defend, didn't move the ball, overdribbled," Wizards head coach Randy Wittman said. "I almost called the Commissioner to see if I could buy a couple more timeouts to use."

The Wizards ended the first half with a 12-point lead 60-48, but the 76ers were able to outscore Washington in the third period with a 34-19 run that gave them the lead at 82-79 going in to the final quarter of the game.

Starting guard Ish Smith scored 25 points and reserve Carl Landry had 15 for the 76ers, who hav been officially eliminated from playoff contention,
