The tech community was a bit surprised about the inclusion of the S7 Active in the S7 family, especially since the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge were unveiled only recently. Some of the key features the Galaxy Active series is known for is its dust proof and waterproof features. Moreover, the series is also known to be a more robust model and has increased battery life.

According to Forbes, the codename of the Galaxy S7 Active handset is reportedly Poseidon. The codename itself is somewhat of a giveaway regarding the features of the upcoming handset. There are speculations claiming that the handset will probably sport a higher rating than IP68 which is the one scored by the S7 and the S7 Edge handsets.

The notorious leaker Evan Blass who uses the Twitter handle @evleaks also hinted about the possibility of the Galaxy S7 Active. Blass claims that AT&T is testing a handset sporting a model number SM-G891A. According to Venture Beat, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active has a model number SM-G890A, a fact that added merit to the authenticity of the leaks.
