Recent reports are out that English Premier League giants Manchester United is planning to rekindle their interest in Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos. Speculations have also emerged that this could be an indication of Louis van Gaal's sacking this summer.

The Mirror reported that the Red Devils are "back in the hunt for Real Madrid star Toni Kroos" and this move "could raise more question marks about Louis van Gaal's future at Old Trafford".

United had already tried to snag the 26-year-old Germany international from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the summer of 2014 and many believed that "it was a done deal". However, the Dutch manager "pulled the plug" out of the negotiations when he took over from then head coach David Moyes also that summer.

With that, Kroos ended up playing for Los Blancos ever since and had been one of the most effective midfield players of the La Liga powerhouse.

After reports that United is eager to sign him again this summer, questions of whether van Gaal actually has a say on that or if he would still be in the Manchester bench next season have arisen.

There are numerous rumors that former Chelsea and Real Madrid head honcho Jose Mourinho is being pursued by United officials to replace van Gaal at the end of the season, although no official reports are out with regards to the said issue.

It was said that Mourinho is keen on handling the Red Devils next season, but van Gaal is also adamant that he will stay and finish the remaining year in his contract with United before retiring.

Meanwhile, Caught Offside noted that "for the club to be linked with a player that Van Gaal dismissed and who seemingly doesn't fit into the Dutch tactician's plans and style is arguably yet another huge hint that the club are moving in a different direction".

There are no indications that van Gaal is amenable to Kroos' signing this summer and if it indeed pushes through, then the club may just be sending the Dutch boss a signal that they no longer want him in their side moving forward.
