English Premier League side Arsenal FC is reportedly eyeing Leicester City midfielder N'Golo Kanté in the summer as veteran manager Arsene Wenger is keen on overhauling his team's midfield for next season.

Caught Offside indicated that the 66-year-old Arsenal boss is planning to "strengthen and bolster his squad by replacing those who are set to depart with younger and more talented options", particularly the Gunners midfield players.

The report noted that team captain Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini are both on their way out of the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season and the team is set to become shallow at the position, which forces Wenger to find solutions in this coming summer transfer window.

It was also said that Wenger "personally watched Kanté on a number of occasions this season and has been left hugely impressed with the way he has adjusted to the Premier League in less than a year".

The 25-year-old France international was acquired by Leicester City from Ligue 1 side Stade Malherbe Caen last summer for a reported transfer fee of €8 million (£5.6 million) and was signed to a four-year contract.

He then became one of Claudio Ranieri's most trusted midfield weapons, particularly on the defensive side, scoring once in 34 appearances in the English top flight competitions this season.

"I know him. You look at his career, you will be amazed. He has always adapted to the level where he was," Wenger told The Sun. "One of my best friends in life knows him since he was ten years old, and he spoke to me about him. We went to watch him and we saw he had quality. But I didn't know he would come so quickly to England."

"He played in Suresnes in Paris at the age of nine, ten years old. After he went to Boulogne as an amateur, they didn't want to sign him pro. After, he went to Brest, I think, after to Caen, and then he came finally to England," the veteran mentor added.
