The suspect investigators identified as the culprit in the murder of dozens of women, who were strangulated to death, have been convicted on Tuesday.

Samuel Little, 74, was convicted for three of the murders he committed in the 1980s in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Spectators shared that the suspect actually appeared in court with a jovial demeanor while being declared guilty of the crimes. He was sentenced to life imprisonment without any chance to apply for parole. When questioned by Superior Court Judge George G. Lomeli if he approved of a September 25 sentencing date, the 74-year-old unconcernedly responded, "It's your discretion". Baffled by the response, the judge insisted to a more definite reply, in which Little said, "Sure-you're welcome".

The three victims Little murdered were Carol Alford, 41, Audrey Nelson, 35, and Guadalupe Apodaca, 46. Alford's body was found on July 13, 1987, Nelson's was discovered on August 14, 1989, and Apodaca was located on September 3, 1989.

Prosecutor Beth Silverman stated during the trial that Little is possibly accountable for at least 40 murders since the 1980s. Possible links are currently under investigation by detectives in Ohio, Florida, Georgia, California, Texas, Kentucky, Missouri, Louisiana, and Mississippi. After the decision has been read, Silverman commented that the verdict ended "an entire career of killing".

Tony Zanbrano, Apodaca's son, shared his relief that the struggle to find his mother's killer has finally come to an end. "I was totally happy, grateful that this nightmare is ended, knowing that he won't be on the streets to hurt somebody else," Zanbrano, 50, told reporters. "He was a monster. He'd thrive on killing mothers," he added.

Little, who was a former boxer, was linked to the death of several women found dead and naked from the waist below through evidence discovered at the scene of the crimes. His DNA profile, which was retrieved from the criminal database, matched those found in the area. Examination of the victims' bodies showed that they have been yanked around wreckages. Authorities disclosed that Little's victims qualified as "easy targets". These women were "drug-users and prostitutes on the fringes of society".

Little was arrested in 2012. Los Angeles detectives located his in a Kentucky shelter and immediately detained him for the murders. Los Angeles robbery-homicide Detecive Mitzi Roberts said that the suspect's mobile lifestyle initially posed difficulties to authorities, who had to seek assistance from law enforcement agencies from all over the country.

In a two-hour discussion conducted by the jurors assigned to the case, they came up with the decision to convict Little of three counts of first-degree murder. Michael Pentz, Little's defense lawyer, refused to provide comments to reporters following the hearing.
