The Sun reported that the 24-year-old Belgium international "will tell new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte he wants to QUIT when they hold formal talks" because he wants to play in the Champions League next season.

The Blues failed to retain their Champions League status this term after falling at the ninth spot of the league table with one matchday left.

Chelsea won the 2014-2015 English top flight title but had a disastrous first half this season under Jose Mourinho until they were able to climb the standings and avoid relegation when Mourinho was sacked and interim manager Guus Hiddink took over in December.

Courtois has been the favored number one at the Bridge under Mourinho and Hiddink since he came back from a loan spell at Atletico Madrid and Conte is set to decide whether he wants to keep the 6-foot-7 Bree, Belgium native or elevate 28-year-old Bosnian keeper Asmir Begovic as the new starter.

La Liga's Real Madrid is said to be interested in acquiring the services of the young stopper but Los Blancos face a huge £65 million buyout clause to acquire Courtois.

The report also said that Courtois "is already on the radar" of Real ever since he was playing with their cross-city rivals and also in England this year, which is why they are keen on making a bid for him in the summer.

Meanwhile, Caught Offside noted that the Belgian's imminent transfer demand "makes an even bigger mockery of Chelsea's decision to sell long-serving stopper Petr Cech to rivals Arsenal last year".

After winning the EPL crown last season with Cech at the gloves, the Blues chose to make the young man Courtois to guard their goal this year only to see him eventually leave at the end of a dismal campaign.
